Dark Side Of Epilepsy
This piece was created to give form to something that is often unseen. From the outside epilepsy doesn’t always look like chaos, It can appear still, controlled and even ordinary but beneath that surface there is a storm, it can be unpredictable, sudden and impossible to fully contain.
The fractured face represents the loss of control, the moment where reality breaks and the body no longer responds as it should. It reflects the disruption of consciousness where control is taken rather than given. The wires and sharp chaotic lines symbolise the electrical surges within the brain. They move without warning, erratic and uncontrollable, representing the unseen intensity of what is happening internally. At the centre of it all is the eye.
The eye represents awareness, the part that remains present and watching even when control is lost. It reflects the experience of being trapped within the moment, unable to stop what is happening. This piece is not just about seizures. It is about anticipation, the constant awareness that something could happen at any time. It is about fear, unpredictability and the weight of living with something that cannot be fully controlled.
At its core this artwork is about coexistence.
About learning to live alongside a storm that can strike without warning and finding a way to exist despite it.
