Dark Side Of Fibromyalgia

This piece reflects a kind of pain that isn’t always visible but is always there.

Fibromyalgia exists beneath the surface from the outside everything can look normal but internally the body feels unreliable, exhausted and in constant discomfort.

The figure is restrained, not just by the structure and chains but by the body itself. It represents the loss of control, where movement, energy and even rest are no longer simple. The spikes embedded throughout the body symbolise widespread pain not just in one place but everywhere, sharp, persistent and unpredictable.

Even in stillness there is tension.

This reflects the fatigue that never fully lifts, a body that doesn’t reset no matter how much rest it gets. What makes fibromyalgia so difficult is its invisibility, pain that can not be seen is often questioned, dismissed, or misunderstood. This piece exists to give that pain form. To show the weight of living in a body that doesn’t always cooperate and the strength it takes to keep going anyway.

Because just because something isn’t visible doesn’t mean it isn’t real.
