Dark Side Of Censorship

I was not born without a voice. I learned to bury it. At first it was subtle corrections disguised as guidance, opinions dismissed as inappropriate, emotions labeled as excessive. Society has a way of shaping you quietly, teaching you what is acceptable long before you realize you are being molded. I was told to be careful, to not say too much, to not stand out in ways that made others uncomfortable. Then came the louder forces. The government, the systems in place, the structures that claim order and protection they did not silence me with a single act but with a constant presence. Rules, expectations, consequences. An invisible boundary around expression. You begin to understand that some truths are safer left unspoken, not because they are wrong, but because they are unwelcome. So I adapted. I softened my voice. Then I reduced it eventually, I stopped using it at all. But silence is not empty it is pressure. Everything I did not say remained inside me, tightening, building, wrapping itself around my thoughts until it no longer felt like something I could release. Society called it discipline. The government called it stability. But to me, it felt like restraint like something sharp and unyielding pressed against who I was, like barbed wire. There is a particular cruelty in being told you are free while being shaped into silence. You begin to question yourself instead of the world around you. Was I too much? Too honest? Too loud? Or was I simply not meant to be heard? I stopped asking. Because my voice did not disappear it changed. It turned inward. It sharpened. It pressed against the boundaries placed around it, searching for a way out. And when it could not escape through words, it began to fracture everything else. That is where the cracks come from. They are not destruction for its own sake. They are evidence of resistance. Even when restrained by society, even when controlled by government, something human refuses to be completely erased. It pushes outward through tension, through distortion, through form. Through art. This piece is not about silence as a condition. It is about silence as enforcement. It is about what happens when systems decide which voices matter and which do not, when expression becomes something to fear, when identity is shaped by what must be held back. The figure remains human but altered, contained, bound by what was meant to control it. The mouth is shut, but the pressure has not stopped. It has only changed direction. What you are looking at is not the absence of a voice. It is what a voice becomes when society and government refuse to let it be heard.
